At Elegant Joinery, we recently completed the installation of a bespoke front door and media wall in Poole for a client based in Lilliput.  The client supplied us with a picture of their vision for the project, and we used this as a starting point to create a design that would blend seamlessly with the décor of their chalet bungalow home.

The media unit was carefully crafted to frame the contemporary fireplace that the customer purchased, adding warmth and character to the living space.  We designed shaker style doors for the lower units on either side of the fire.  These were crafted from tulip wood, specifically chosen for its durability and exceptional heat resistance.  The cabinetry carcasses were constructed from MDF, providing a sturdy and smooth foundation.  Soft-close hinges were incorporated into the design for an elegant and effortless touch.

Each side of the unit was designed with four fitted shelves above the TV section, perfect for displaying books or personal items.  The lower sections behind the doors house adjustable shelving, with two shelves per side for customised storage.  A 90mm high plinth adds stability and style to the base, while the 25mm thick MDF top enhances the elegant design with its nosing-moulded edge.  The full-width decorative cornice adds a custom finish, and LED tape lights with remote control create a sense of ambiance and practicality.

In addition to the media unit, our expert joiners designed and installed a bespoke made to measure front door and frame for the property.  This was crafted using Accoya timber, an ideal choice for coastal areas chosen for its exceptional durability.  Accoya timber can resist shrinking, swelling and jamming, meaning it can withstand the harsh weather conditions often faced by coastal environments.  The door features a horizontal board design complemented by a clear double-glazed panel to maximise natural light.  Fixed side lights and an overhead borrowed light frame amplify the airy and open design the customer had envisioned.

An auto-locking door system was also installed for extra security, giving the client peace of mind with a reliable and robust locking solution.  The door and frame were primed by our team for durability, before the customer was able to paint it to achieve their desired finish.
