Period Gate Installation

We were asked to create a made to measure gate, that wouldn’t warp, for this period property in Poole Old Town. Elegant Joinery have provided a few period joinery services for this client before and it’s lovely when a customer requests a new project. It shows our customer service is good and our products are great quality.

Iroko Hardwood Gate

Our joiners decided Iroko hardwood was the best suited wood to use, as it’s impervious to rain. They also designed this beautiful arched gate with matching arched frame to suit the period features of the property.

Made to Measure Gate Construction

• A solid timber top rail with boards were cut to suit the arch.

• Our joiner used traditional mortise and tenon construction to create this 45mm thick gate, with 20mm thick TGV boards.

• Then 3 stainless steel hinges, a key operated sliding gate lock, handle and 2 sliding bolts were added on the inside.

• Finally, 2 clear coats of wood preservative were applied.

Once the wood preservative had dried, we took it to the client’s address where we supplied and installed the hardwood timber posts, the frame and the beautiful new gate.
